EdiP's Records Got There First: How a Bucharest Producer Built a Global Sound
Dopamine Machine Records · October 31, 2026
Plenty of dancers have heard EdiP before they ever saw him play. The Romanian producer's records have been moving floors at Club Space Miami, aired in John Summit sets and backed by the likes of Seth Troxler, Marco Carola and Joseph Capriati — all before EdiP set foot in a North American venue. That changes in early 2027, when he makes his debut run across the Atlantic.
Born Edi Preduca in Bucharest, EdiP came up inside one of underground dance music's most respected scenes. Romania has long exported a particular flavour of groove-driven, hypnotic minimal — a sound shaped by residencies at clubs like Control and parties like Sunwaves — and EdiP absorbed those influences before anyone outside the country was paying close attention. He first appeared on Resident Advisor in 2017 and built his reputation slowly, playing Nook, Grădina Monteoru, SAGA Festival and Sunwaves. In 2023 he shared a Nook booth with Blackchild; in 2025, he played Electric Castle. These were not shortcuts. They were years of learning how to read a room before the room had any expectations of him.
The records came next. His tracks lean into the groove and negative space that characterises Romanian minimal — that unhurried confidence in a bassline, the way a well-placed break can reorganise an entire dancefloor — then layer in the punch and forward motion of tech house. It is a combination that has resonated far beyond Bucharest. He ranked sixth on Beatport's top minimal artists list for 2023 and 2024, then hit his first Beatport number one with 'Nuthin' On', made alongside Chicks Luv Us for Kaluki Musik. Releases on Insomniac Records, Catch & Release and Club Sweat confirmed he was building something with real width across the genre.
The Ibiza chapter opened this summer and moved fast. John Summit invited EdiP to play Experts Only at UNVRS in June — marking him as the first Romanian artist to perform at the club. He returned weeks later for FISHER's residency, and the recording from that night was picked up for the New Horizons series run by UNVRS and 1001Tracklists. His connection to Summit has deepened beyond the stage. After EdiP's remix of Summit's 'Focus' appeared on the Playa Package — a set of reworks built specifically for Burning Man sunrise sets — Summit came back for a second collaboration. EdiP's remix of Summit and LAVINIA's 'Shadows' dropped October 16 on Experts Only. "My take on 'Shadows' is darker and deeper, with synths that feel almost like they're talking to you, while still keeping the energy of the original," EdiP told 6AM Group.
Today, October 30, he releases 'Sober' on Don Diablo's HEXAGON label — and it arrives with added weight. EdiP performed at HEXAGON's showcase at Amsterdam Dance Event this month, making him part of a label family he grew up admiring from a distance. "Getting to experience the label from both sides, as an artist releasing music and now performing with the family, is a really cool moment for me," he said. HEXAGON built its name on euphoric electronic music with broad appeal, and EdiP's presence on the roster signals a genuine reach toward the underground without abandoning what makes the label work for wider audiences.
His set preparation reflects the same care. Before a significant show, he builds an extended playlist and uses Rekordbox's star rating system to grade tracks by intensity — then deliberately resists locking in a running order. "Every party is different, and the plan you make at home is not 100% accurate to what's actually going to happen," he told 6AM. It is an approach shaped by years of watching how crowds breathe, when they need to be pushed and when they need room to settle. "I feel like Ibiza is about underground culture, trying out new tracks in a set, and experimenting a lot with music," he added.
Asia came first in September — Seoul and Shenzhen, with more dates in the region and Australia to follow in December. North America arrives in early 2027. Club Space Miami has already played his records; in a few months he will play them himself. For a producer whose music crossed the Atlantic long before he did, it is the logical next step in a career built on patience, precision and an unwillingness to hurry.
EdiP's 'Sober' is out now on HEXAGON. His remix of Summit and LAVINIA's 'Shadows' is out now on Experts Only.
