Odd Mob and OMNOM's HYPERBEAM Is Back with 'Take You There'

Dopamine Machine Records · July 26, 2026

Odd Mob and OMNOM don't do much together without making it count. The Brisbane-based producer and the Los Angeles-based artist launched their collaborative alias HYPERBEAM with the "System" project last year, establishing an aesthetic built around dense, functional darkness. Their latest — "Take You There," out July 24th on Insomniac Records — picks up exactly where that left off, and then pushes a little further.

The Track: Dark Tech House That Doesn't Blink

"Take You There" opens on a rolling dark-house groove — droning synths pushed up against a bassline with actual grit. The vocal arrives early and stays purposeful, riding the rhythm rather than riding over it: the repeated phrase loops and warps through the arrangement with just enough variation to avoid becoming monotonous. Then the drops hit, and the production turns alien — pulses and echoes cut in to replace forward motion with something that feels more like pressure from all sides. It's disorienting in the way that good dark tech house tends to be: you feel slightly displaced but cannot stop moving.

Why Insomniac Records Makes Sense for HYPERBEAM

Insomniac's tech house imprint has spent the last few years functioning as a bridge between American festival-scale productions and the kind of stripped-back underground-facing material that the genre's more dedicated listeners actually play out. HYPERBEAM lives in exactly that space. Odd Mob has built a following that spans club rooms and major festival stages without softening the sonic approach, and OMNOM operates in a similar zone in LA and Las Vegas. Releasing a track like "Take You There" on Insomniac rather than a smaller European imprint is a deliberate call — it's music designed for large rooms, and the label is well-positioned to reach them.

Odd Mob, OMNOM and a Packed North American Summer

Both producers are deep into a busy stretch of touring. Odd Mob is confirmed for Osheaga in Montreal and ARC Music Festival in Chicago — the Labor Day weekend festival that has become one of the most credible bookings for artists at the intersection of tech house and underground dance. OMNOM has Lollapalooza and Das Energi on the calendar. Their rare joint appearances as HYPERBEAM are landing at HARD Summer and Outsidelands, making this summer one of the most visible periods for the alias since it launched. "Take You There" arrives as a statement piece at exactly the right moment in that trajectory.

What Dark Tech House Is Doing Right Now

The darker end of tech house has been gaining traction as an alternative to the brighter, more vocal-driven records that dominate Beatport's top 10. Producers like Odd Mob have helped shift that balance — his own releases tend to favor function over ornamentation, and HYPERBEAM takes that instinct further. "Take You There" is not a complicated record. It doesn't need to be. It's built to work at volume, in a room that's already locked in, from an artist who knows exactly what that room requires.

"Take You There" is out now via Insomniac Records. Both Odd Mob and OMNOM continue touring North America through the summer and into fall.
